Simon Backer CEO
Simon is a wireless industry veteran having worked in a variety of executive roles for companies such as Motorola, Mobile Data Solutions Inc as well as CEO for California based Retix Wireless. Simon is known for creating and managing successful businesses combining software and wireless technologies.
Simon has served as a member of the British Columbia Premier’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology and holds an B.Sc.(Hons) in Applied Physics from Brunel University in Uxbridge, England.
Karl Reardon CTO
Karl has over twenty years of technology innovation and telecommunications experience. Karl has worked closely with industry and standards groups, financial and telecommunications partners to develop and deploy innovative and effective solutions. Karl has significant experience in developing and deploying solutions requiring ‘5NINES’ reliability as well as stringent security, latency and performance requirements. Karl’s prior experience includes positions as: CTO of a company developing wireless communication solutions for financial processing customers; and Product Director and General Manager of Motorola’s Vancouver Research and Development Center responsible for wireless IP data. While at Motorola Karl played a key role in the standards group that spearheaded the GPRS specification and holds seven US and EU patents for wireless and data technology.
Rob Whittle VP Sales and Marketing
Until early 2008, Rob was the National President of DDB Canada (formerly Pamer-Jarvis DDB) – Canada’s most awarded and most creative advertising agency.
Rob’s category expertise is broad and includes – tourism and hospitality (Canadian Tourism Commission, Vanoc, Tourism Vancouver), food service (McDonald’s, Boston Pizza), crown corporations and packaged goods and mass retail. Rob has a passion for new media and instrumental in the build-out of such services as part of DDB’s integrated Services unit.
Rob is particularly skilled at analyzing go-to-market strategies and the structural implications of such strategies for the brands.
